What to Keep in Mind After Waxing — Waxing Aftercare

The treatment is over — your skin is smooth and well-groomed. But what now? The right aftercare determines how long your skin stays smooth and how comfortable your next waxing session will be.

Here are all the points that really matter.

The First 24–48 Hours

Right after waxing, your skin is more sensitive than usual. The hair follicles are open — meaning bacteria and irritants can get in more easily. That's why these rules apply for the first 24–48 hours:

  • No sports — sweat irritates freshly treated skin

  • No hot baths or showers — lukewarm water only

  • No sauna or solarium

  • No tight clothing — especially on legs, underarms, and the intimate area

  • No exfoliating

  • No intense creams, perfumes, or deodorants on the treated areas

  • Avoid direct sunlight

What Really Helps Afterward

From day three onward, you can actively help keep your skin smooth and prevent ingrown hairs:

Regular exfoliating — 2–3x per weekExfoliating is the most important part of aftercare. It removes dead skin cells and keeps hair follicles clear — so regrowing hairs can't get trapped underneath. A gentle body scrub is all you need.

Gentle, soothing careA light, fragrance-free moisturizer keeps the skin supple and calms it after treatment. This makes a big difference, especially for sensitive skin.

Stick with waxingThe more regularly you come in, the finer the hair becomes — and the more comfortable each treatment gets. An ideal interval is every 4–6 weeks.

What to Do About Redness or Bumps?

Slight redness right after waxing is completely normal — it usually fades within a few hours. Small bumps around the follicles are also common, especially the first time. What helps: a soothing aloe vera cream or a mild after-wax product. What doesn't help: scratching, picking, or fragranced products on irritated skin.If redness or irritation lasts longer than 2–3 days, feel free to reach out to me — I'll take a look together with you to see what can help.
